Lego Mania and the Statue of Liberty

New Yorkers are out in droves this morning for
a special Lego event celebrating the grand opening of their new Flat Iron store.
The event includes an opportunity to help build an over 20 foot tall Lego replica of the Statue of Liberty.

Having a free day while my husband is attending a conference, I stumbled on the festivities well just aimlessly exploring the Big Apple. Despite the fact that it is very rainy and icky out, to say that the enthusiasm and happiness is contagious is an understatement. Even the employees and their rain ponchos are managing to have a really good time.

I often try to describe the video game Minecraft to people and use the analogy of virtual Legos. Today’s event is a bitlike a live Minecraft experience.

The community created masterpiece will go up Monday, October 13 and remain erected and available for viewing for the next three weeks. You can see it in New York City at Madison Sq., Park right across the street from their new Lego store.
